BABYLON IS FALLEN

Revelations Chapter 14:8

The second angel makes a prophetic proclamation about Babylon saying, “And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” ,  The angel spoke of that which was to happened in the future as if it had already occurred. In this one verse we are introduced to a most startling prophecy, the fall of Babylon. This is not the historical Babylon founded and ruled by Nimrod nor by Nebuchadnezzar; this is the last Babylon that God in wrath will judge. This Babylon is that great and mighty city that is the seat of the great whore; this is spiritual Babylon. There are three passages of scripture in the book of Revelation that shall be considered at this point.

The first is in (Rev. 18:10), “Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, alas, alas, that great city, Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour is thy judgment come.” Every instance that Babylon is mentioned in the book of Revelation it is in reference to this Babylon. This Babylon is “that great city”; the city that sat upon seven mountains; (Rev. 17:9), “The angel told John, “And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sitteth.” Again, this is not the Babylon of old, this is spiritual Babylon of now; that will most surely fall.

Revelation 14:9-11

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
‘The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: ’And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

The third angel announced, with a loud voice, the Judgment of God on the beast and his subject. The beast is described in the bible as a world government. This beast is the last such government which is a revival of the Roman world government. The governments of the world are positioning themselves to give their power to a world leader who will show himself as God; and his world government is described as a beast. This man of sin is the child of the devil and he will lie, kill, steal, and destroy. There will be hell on earth without national borders. He will be destroyed at the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and he and those in his government, as well as those who worship him, shall burn forever in Hell. Don't miss this one!
